According to TechTarget, ICT, or information and communications technology (or technologies), is the infrastructure and components that enable modern computing. Although there is no single, universal definition of ICT, the term is generally accepted to mean all devices, networking components, applications and systems that combined allow people and organizations (i.e., businesses, nonprofit agencies, governments and criminal enterprises) to interact in the digital world.
To be given the opportunity to have a personal ICT experience is really a pleasure because it was truly insightful. Being a person who uses technology a lot, but doesn’t really have an extensive knowledge about it, this experience was a favor. I may have considered myself as someone who is knowledgeable enough about the different software like Microsoft Office Word, and Excel, this subject proved me wrong. I gained a wide range of information that will be very useful in my future aims, especially in my studies.
By far, of all the things I learned from the experience, my favorite is learning about using Excel. I have always wanted to learn how to use it, even in the past because I know it would be useful for me in the future. I learned about the basic tools and functions within the software that are going to help me to be both time and effort-efficient.
ICT can be used to effect social change in my chosen professional track, which is the business industry. For example, being an Accountant in the said industry would require sufficient and excellent skills in Microsoft Office Excel, as it is one of the basic software used in accomplishing tasks for the job. Since Accounting involves numerical data, Excel is a good software that would help an accountant to complete their tasks in no time.
ICT is leveraged for economic, societal and interpersonal transactions and interactions. ICT has drastically changed how people work, communicate, learn and live.
